What is the difference between container chassis and tipping chassis trailer?

There are different designs for container chassis trailers based on their application and use. Each one of them is drawn from the desired transportation means and where it will be used.These containers are also transported on railways and that means the material and design of the trailer should somehow match other platforms used for transportation of containers.


Common skeleton trailer:

Skeleton trailer is normally a simple fixed structure without much sophistication. Used to carry and transport containers from one point to another.It can be used for the transportation of containers of various lengths: 20ft, 40ft or 45ft.

The framework is usually made of steel. So the common container trailer chassis is easy to use and affordable. However, you will need auxiliary equipment such as the overhead cranes for loading and offloading the containers from the chassis.

Advantage of container chassis trailer:

1. Container chassis trailer can be used repeatedly for a long time, with sufficient strength.

2. Use containers to transfer goods, when replacing the container chassis ship midway, there is no need to take the goods out of the box and replace them.

Container tipping chassis trailer:

The striking feature with the tipper container chassis trailer is a mechanism that makes it easy to unload the container.There are apparatus added as modifications to the conventional chassis trailer models further simplifying the process of offloading cargo from the container.

The hydraulic system mounted on the upper platform facilitates the offloading process causing the container to tilt upwards to offload cargo.It is definitely one of the safest means of offloading shipping containers. There is a roller situated at the upper frame, some distance from the pivot device connecting it to the lower frame.

However, it presents a very convenient option for use in the transportation of cargo using containers.The pivotal drive on the upper frame translates to a change in the distance between the roller and the securement point of the cable in relation to the lower frame.This results in the lift and movement of the loaded container without the need to search for external equipment such as a winch device to trigger the desired distance.

The roller rotates around the point of mounting on the upper frame. Movement of the roller can now be realized in relation to the lower frame.Ideally, the Tilt Container Chassis comprises upper and lower frames attached by way of a pivot device. In such an arrangement, no external equipment will be required for offloading cargo from the container.

The trailer comes with an hydraulic lifting cylinder that contracts longitudinally to facilitate loading and on the other hand, they extend in an outward manner to enhance the offloading process.

How to choose a good skeleton trailer?

1. Frame of container transport trailer.

The frame part is the main load bearing part, which is composed of beam, side beam and floor.

The thickness of the beam part depends on whether the thickness is an international standard. The international standard for the frame of the skeleton car is 14/8/16 mm. The material of the steel plate in the middle of the beam is Q345B or manganese steel with a thickness of 8mm. Many unreliable suppliers will use 6mm Thickness beam slabs to save costs, but the carrying capacity was reduced by 26%. The international standard thickness of the middle part of the beam must be 8mm.

2. Axle of the skeletal trailer.

The axles of the used skeletal trailer are divided into three types: 13 ton axles, 13 ton axles + 16 ton brake system axles, 16 ton axles.
